Upton Community Library re-opened on 1st April 2013 after being closed the previous November 2012 by the local authority Wakefield Council.
The opening of our library will be the beginning of a new chapter, developing the library into a community centre making it more than just a place to borrow books.
We have computers for networking, research, or job searches; you will be able to meet with a study group, join our knit, stitch and knatter, or our writing group. You can find a quiet place to write on our laptop or tablet using our free wifi connection, you can connect with other like-minded readers; you can just come in, relax in a comfortable chair with a book, magazine or newspaper in a welcoming environment.
We have recently refurbished the library to encompass a cafe area where you can get hot and cold drinks, cakes and light lunches.
Our library is a valuable free shared public space for anybody – and everybody – to use and enjoy.
